About Edz

edzIf tough times make up a better person, then I’m thankful I have much of it. It’s not a thing to boast about, I know. But I could’ve not thought of creating a piece of my virtual space through this blog if not for them. More importantly, I could’ve been so careless as to forget about God had I been so ‘protected’ against this life’s harshness.

Pembo in Makati City was where I spent the early 13 years of my life. We moved to Silang in Cavite in 1996. This is where we used to spend our summer vacation. I never thought we’ll be staying here for good. But, I always believe that God has a reason for everything, so I never asked anymore questions about it.

College for me was a rollercoaster ride. Cavite State University in Indang is definitely one of the most memorable places I know. The university, particularly, its official student publication – The Gazette, introduced me to a lot of beautiful people and true friends; challenging experiences as a student, student writer, and as a person; life’s realities; and many more things – both good and bad. The Gazette has been one of God’s effective tools in teaching me to become a strong person. And yes, it did open my eyes and heart to care for other people and to literally reach out for them.

Life after university is equally challenging. It took me a year to finally land on a job. I was sorely tempted to apply in call centers then because of their attractive compensation and just forget about my passion for writing. God, it was a really difficult stage – that time when you are a fresh graduate trying to find your rightful place under the universe. There were a lot of people then telling me that I’m gonna swallow my being so idealistic once I got out of the university. Corporate world is tough they say. There were many reasons for me to give up then. But I’m thankful I never did. I’m so thankful for Him for giving me all the strength I need when faced with such circumstance.

For three years, I served as an Information Analyst in Alabang, where I did abstracting and indexing of virtually every publication in North America and Europe. I think that’s when I started to have problem with my visual acuity. My eye grade is now 375.

I resigned from the work, though I enjoyed learning a lot of stuff from different countries, because of job burnout. Now, I’m working for a web-based firm in Laguna as a web content writer/editor.

I love conversations. Witty one or just plain ‘kulitan,’ I’ll enjoy it.  There are a lot of things I want to say here. But I think it’s more appropriate to discuss them all in my blog. :) And that’s where you’ll get to really know me, too :)
